Where We Fish

Fishing Guide in Ipswitch

Brookline sits right next to the Charles River and Boston Harbor, giving you quick access to some of the best urban Striped Bass fishing on the East Coast.

On the Water

Fishing Ipswitch

Fishing Brookline means you're fishing the lower Charles River where it meets Boston Harbor, plus the harbor itself. This is estuary fishing at its finest - mix of fresh and salt water that draws Striped Bass hard every spring and fall. The current rips through the Charles River mouth on outgoing tides, and that's where the bass hold to ambush bait. It's not glamorous water - you're fishing right under the Zakim Bridge, around the esplanade, near the rowers - but the fish don't care about the skyline. Summer brings bluefish up into the harbor too, and they can be aggressive on the same tide swings that produce the bass. Tuna aren't a realistic target from Brookline since you'd need to run way offshore, but the inshore bass and bluefish fishing is genuinely good. The key here is timing the tides right, and that's what I do on every trip.
